Sneaky Deal

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Lombard Toyota dealership in Illinois is the worst car dealer I have ever dealt with. I have owned 5 different brand new Toyotas before, and this is the first time Ive been mistreated by a Toyota car dealer. The sales guy, Sam, and I agreed on a price for a Black 2017 Camry LE that was on the lot. He asked me to comeback the next day because he needed my wife's signature to be able to make the sale on both our names. I thought that was odd. When we came back the next day, I asked him if I could test drive the car that night. He had a bunch of excuses that it was being washed and getting it ready. He asked us to see financing without test driving the car. I wanted to see the final numbers with taxes and doc fees so I went to see Tony the finance guy. That's when I found out that the car that we agreed on was stripped down and with a new pre-printed sticker and MSRP was changed and lowered by more than $1500. He was trying to have me signed for a much lower priced car than we agreed on. All the other option that was on the original deal was taken out of the car. I asked the sales guy for the original sticker but he said the car wash guy threw it away. I gave him a final test which he also failed. There was another car on the lot that I test drove the night before and the MSRP was $125 lower than the one I wanted. I told him i will buy that one instead. His answer was, I have to comeback the next day since it was too late to CHANGE the paperwork. it was 8:20 at night and I wonder which paperwork he was talking about?? I wanted my down payment check back and he said it was already been cashed and they don't have it. I had to block it thru my bank.

Corroded Wheels

Toyota - Corroded Wheels
Bought the Tacoma certified pre owned. A couple of the wheels had a few very small spots of corrosion. The dealer said to just keep an eye on this. If the condition gets worse they would look into changing them out. At every oil change service I showed the service writer the wheels and I was told they would contact Toyota and find out how to handle this. After seven years nothing has ever been done. I had this dealership(Burien Toyota) perform the service because I bought the truck there and wanted to be sure my warranty wasn't void do to not having done the proper required service. Don't count on anything from any dealership. No matter what brand. They can deny any warranty at anytime for any reason.

Own a Toyota Corolla s 2014 with Entune. Screen freezes won't load. Toyota says buy new one... $1007. 00 Sreen works fine with backup camera.. Immediate problems after last Entune update. This is crazy!!! Only 2 years old?? Ridiculous to have to buy a new system after a bad update/ software problem?? Seen many complaints with customers with the same problem

Brakes activate while driving, Trac, VSC and ABS lights come on with beeping sound

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I purchased a 2002 Toyota sequoia and have 193,000 miles. Have not had any major problems until last month when my wife driving home experienced a jerking in the brakes, the ABS, Trac and VSC lights came on and she immediately slowed down and pulled over to the side of the highway, turned off the engine and then restarted it and drove home. I thought she may have hit something but saw no damage. A week later I am driving late one night on the highway going 55 and the front brakes start to intermittently grab, the trac, ABS and VCS lights come on along with a warning sound/beeping. Pulled over and while slowing down below 30, ABS sound went off, ABS light/skid light goes off but the Trac and VCS lights stay on. Drove 2 more hours without any problem other than the lights staying on. 1 week later drive back home and with in 45 minutes same thing happens. Had to leave car on to gas up since the Trac and ABs would reset and go off only to have the event happen again. Drove the 8 hours with lights on but no braking event. Vehicle has been in the shop for over a week. Called Toyota and was told that there was no recall on the Trac, VSC or ABS system.

New car battery

Purchased a new RAV 4 in August 2012. 4 years and 2 months layer I had to replace the battery.

I was told the new batteries are designed to last only 4-6 years. Really. This was my 4th Toyota purchase. All the previous batteries have lasted 7-8 years.

What has happened to Toyata quality. The dealer service rep was very indifferent about the battery not lasting longer. I have a 2014 Toyota Tacoma. Can I expect that battery to last only 4 years also?

I would like to hear from Toyota as to why they can't make a battery that can last more than 4 years. Thank you.

What does the battery warranty say? You got one with the car. That's what really matters.

We are very sorry providing you a Jack that collapsed the first time you used it however at this time we can't honor your claim.

I was trying to change a flat tire the first time on a new Toyota Camry when the jack collapsed and damaged the rim, backup plate. I submitted a claim to Toyota and they had me wait for two hours at the dealership before the inspector came and told me that they will replace the jack, rim, and the backup plate. After a month, I get a letter saying: We are very sorry providing you a Jack that collapsed the first time you used it however at this time we can't honor your claim. I called Toyota and frankly said that is our decision and if you do not like it, sue us. I intend to do that.

Toyota Dealer doesn't care to call back or answer messges about safety recall

A month ago I received a safety recall card about my 2005 Toyota Rav4's driver side airbag potentially malfunctioning. The card I received explicitly stated to NOT drive my car because it is not road safe. Since I drive mainly with my 3 year old daughter, I was concerned so I called a Toyota dealer to schedule an appt to fix the malfunctioning part in my airbag deploy system. They didn't have the part so they said that they would order it and contact me when they got it in. They took my number and my husband's phone number, plus our emails for safe measure. They said it would take a week. It's been almost 3 weeks since that first call and they still haven't contacted my husband nor myself about the part. I've tried calling and leaving messages since then. I have also received two more safety recall cards so I would like to get this resolved. I will call again next week to see if I can get through to anyone.

My motor locked up because of oil problem. My car had acceleration problem also

8/15/2016 I have a 2007 Camry LE that stopped on me in the middle of the highway. I talked to Stephanie at Ross Ford, Toyota in Wynn Ar, (870-362-****) about the bulletin for the oil consumption and the acceleration problems They told me that they would have to look at it. I had it toll to their shop which is about 60 mile. They said the motor was locked up, but they wasn't going to pay to fix it because they was not 100% sure. My car is still under warranty and is one of the cars with the oil leakage problem. I mailed a letter out and I spoke to someone about the problem at the Toyota Motor sales in Torrance, CA, but I haven't heard back from them since. They charged me a bill at Ross Toyota and they haven't released my car. They did not repair my motor for the oil problem or the acceleration problem. I again paid a toll truck to return to get the Camry, but they wouldn't release my car to me.This problem has become very inconvenient and stressful. Ross Toyota in Wynn, AR has been holding my car since May of 2016 and I don't have transportation to get around. Teresa Hatcher 700 Walnut Newport,AR. 72112 870-523-**** 870-664-****

1995 to 2004 tacomas are rusting from the bottom up. Toyota tried to save money on building these rust buckets on wheels.

The frames are rusted out in ten years because they toyota used cheap metallurgical formulations and did not undercoat as required. Be very cautious about any toyotas built in USA, they are not as high quality as the ones made in Japan.

If I knew it was built in USA I would not have purchased it.

DON''T BUY TOYOTAS BUILT IN USA, THEY ARE JUNK AND TOYOTA WILL NOT FIX THIS VERY DANGEROUS

I own two Toyota trucks a 93 and a 2000 and they both ended up going to the junkyard because Toyota does not how know how to build a good truck. In 93 they installed head gaskets that were defective.

And they continued to put them on when they replaced them so I had to get it done twice! I have never been impressed with the Toyota dealerships they overcharge and don’t do what they say they’re going to do.

My 2000 truck was rusted all the *** on the frame after a couple years and Toyota told me to shove it up my *** Toyota does not have good customer service! Never buy a Toyota Unless you are stupid.

Warranty

I have a 2011 Toyota Highlander with only 45k miles under warranty but per years it's out of warranty 2 months. My wheel bearing is bad and needs to be replaced.

Per my conversation with Tonya Gunn supervisor at Toyota Care in Ca. They only offered me $100 towards the $600 repair. I have issues on 2 fronts. First: being out of warranty only 2 months and having low mileage issue with wheel bearing shouldn't happened for such an expensive vehicle, after conversations with dealer they mentioned that in this particular case most likely Toyota care would "help out significant " possibly 50-75% of total cost.

Unfortunately it was only 15%

2nd issue: my experience with Tonya Gunn supervisor I reached out to her and she called back after 3 days. Not very friendly in fact rude and confrontational. Not sure if she had a personal issue but seems as if it was taking out on me. Several days later the local Toyota service dept.

reached out to her for approval on repair and it took an additional 3 days to hear back. Not surprising she only approved a fraction of the normal allotment.

I feel as if she based her decision on personal feelings of me rather than facts. I will never buy nor advise anyone to ever purchase a Toyota again.

Failure to honor customer loyalty rebate.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Toyota sent me a letter to inform me of a $500 customer loyalty rebate if I bought or leased another new Toyota. I have been a loyal Toyota customer for 14 years, got 7 new Toyota's in that time frame and made deals on those purchases totaling more than $140,000. During the process of getting our new Rav 4 the dealer told us the $500 Loyalty Rebate would not be honored because we moved to a different state since or last deal. Last time I checked Toyota sold cars all over the world. I like Toyota vehicles but this $500 screw job by Toyota will cost them a customer. Subaru here we come when the next deal is due!

2015 Toyota - Prius Car Review from Chicago, Illinois
I bought a 2015 Prius. After 10 months a swelling appeared on the front bumper. Took it to a certified Toyota collision repair shop. They said it was a defect withthe bumper and that it wasn't caused by a collision. The dealer, Nalley Toyota Stonecrest Georgia refused to fix it under warranty...claiming it was not a manufacturer issue. That it was caused by an impact.

Getting a brake job

Back in April 2015 at Pat Lobb of Toyota in McKinney, Texas told me that we need a brakes for our 2007 Yaris. I told them to go ahead and do it. In July of 2016 I heard a loud sound coming from the backside of the car so I decided to get it checked out and what they found was the brakes were not replace but the brake lines were and they charge me over $900.00 for this. Toyota dealerships are after the money and really don't care about the customer well being. So, I called Toyota corporation and they are giving me the run around. This is the last Toyota I buy and they lost a loyal customer.

This is a typical problem it seems and Toyota should be responsible for fixing it! The wattanty through allstate is a scam. We haven't had the car a year yet. It was great and I had bought a 2008 prius. Now I am stick with two *** vehicles.

2007 Prius main screen (combination meter) goes dead

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
We bought a used 2007 Prius and almost immediately had trouble with the combination meter going dark. One of the side issues with it was that the engine would not shut off (imagine getting gas and thinking the car is off, and worse, leaving the car at a train station parking lot for hours). The local Toyota dealer assured us that they could not find any problems with the combination meter and "we must have done something or turned something off". The last time the screen went black I drove it back to the dealer and refused to turn off the car until their technician looked at it. THEN they decided that yes, I really needed a new combination meter and the cost was $675. In spite of all of my complaints, they said that I was 4 months over the the replacement limit and basically out of the goodness of their hearts they would give me a 10% discount on the repair. This has been upsetting to say the least. I agree that this should have been a recall or at least extend the warranty on this issue.
