I have a 2013 Tacoma and a noise started coming from the driver side differential bearing. I initially took the truck in March 2015 at 40k miles and the service tech stated he couldn't hear anything even though I could hear it sitting in the vehicle next to him.

Fast forward to now January 2016 and 59k miles. The noise is still noticeable so I take it back to the dealer before my warranty runs out. Was told that due to my lift kit (1.5") that they wouldn't warranty it. The truck did not have a lift kit when I initially took it and the noise was there.

This is a known problem and there is a Toyota Technical Service Bulletin for this particular bearing being bad. They are refusing to fix a known issue blaming it on a small lift even though the problem was there way before the lift kit. This is a very poor warranty coverage and customer service. I have owned Toyotas since 2002 but will never own one again.

It makes no sense that they can blame a known issue on the consumer.

I would not recommend buying a Tacoma, 4Runner, or FJ Cruiser between the years of 2004 through 2015 as those are the affected models according to the TSB. I am also a member of no less than half a dozen Toyota forums and will spread this information everywhere I can so no one else has to deal with this nightmare.

Reason of review: Warranty issue.

Location: Bloomington, Indiana
